Quick-Change Tooling, that's what.

One of the most under-utilized ways of saving a bundle on tooling is to utilize the Master Unit Die System by MUD. Master Unit Die There are a number of good choices depending upon the configuration of your part.

If your part is a 2-D form that is less than 1/2 oz. in shot weight, you may be surprised how in-expensively we can put this in a Master Unit Die base model 05/05 companion insert. The material is offered in everything from aluminum to H-13 tool steel!

Another good choice is the 08/09 companion insert, set up for the "U" Style Frame. Although the frame is rather expensive, you need purchase only one. Subsequent molds can be built utilizing the same frame, with the only purchase necessary is the companion insert for less than $400.00 in most cases!

Also new, is Progressive Components line of Mold Actions. Progressive Components Of particular interest is their CamAction Assemblies and FlexiCore Assemblies. These are especially ingenious mechanisms where under-cuts or core-pulls are necessary. They are available to the moldmaker as an off-the-shelf item.
